    A timeless classic!, September 18, 2000 :
Reviewer : Karen Canzoneri, from San Mateo, CA, USA.
I've had my Fiestaware for over ten years now and I never get tired of it! I purchased it in my first marriage and got it all in the divorce. I have since remarried - when I was completing my bridal registry I had absolutely no wish to register for dinnerware. What can I say? A classic American design, and it comes in a rainbow of colors...you can keep all one color or mix and match (as I did). And these dishes are DURABLE. I have not broken a single one! In addition, they are great sizes -- the cereal bowls, especially. And what a great value!

The perfect set to kick off a Fiestaware collection, equip a college dorm room, or pair with other Fiestaware pieces for a larger set, this four-piece place setting from Fiestaware consists of a dinner plate, salad plate, bowl, and mug. Celebrated in the 1940s, '50s, and '60s for its streamlined art deco look and colorful glazes, Fiestaware is enjoying a remarkable comeback today. All pieces in this set have the signature Fiestaware rings and match Fiestaware pieces in plum or subtle colors such as yellow or pearl gray. With over 50 Fiestaware dinnerware and accessory pieces to choose from, you can build your collection over time starting with this one-person set. The 100 percent lead-free glaze is nonporous, so it won't absorb foods, and it's durable enough to withstand the microwave and dishwasher. Some stainless-steel flatware may leave marks on the plates, but these can be easily removed with a nonabrasive cleanser. -- Emily Wolf

Modi targets Cong on implementation of MoUs

Press Trust Of India
Posted on Jan 14, 2011 at 12:40pm IST

Gandhinagar: In a veiled attack on Gujarat Congress, Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said it would have been better if those in power 15 years ago were more concerned about school dropout rate in the state than talking about the MoUs that have not materialised.
"Today, the other states are discussing how to replicate the Gujarat model of development," Modi said during the valedictory session of the 5th Vibrant Gujarat Summit (VGS) that ended in Gandhinagar.
"A number of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed during the summit, but there are those who keep track of only those MoUs which have not materialised," he said.
Modi targets Cong on implementation of MoUs

"I would like to tell them, if they had thought about how many children had dropped out of school 15 years ago, it would have been better," Modi said.
The BJP leader's remarks came in the wake of Congress accusing the Modi Government of corruption and irregularities in implementation of MoUs signed during the previous VGS events.
Leader of Opposition in Assembly Shaktisinh Gohil had alleged that public money was being spent on VGSs and demanded formation of Joint Legislative Committee (JLC) to probe the deals signed during the summits.
He had accused the BJP Government of favouring a select group of industrialists.

Sabarimala: Minister, Oppn blame Kerla govt

Sumit Pande Sumit Pande , CNN-IBN
Posted on Jan 17, 2011 at 07:46am IST

New Delhi: Two days after the stampede hit Sabarimala pilgrims killing over 100 devotees, Karnataka government and the Congress have blamed the Kerala government for the accident.
On Makara Sankranti day, at 7.05 pm, the devotion reaches a crescendo at Sabarimala as Makara Jyothi, the celestial light, appears thrice on the hill next to the sanctum sanctorum.
At 8:35, the tragedy struck. Over 100 pilgrims, returning after witnessing Makara Jyothi were killed and several others injured when a jeep went out of control and rammed into devotees in a narrow forest stretch at Pullumedu, triggering a stampede.
Sabarimala: Minister, Oppn blame Kerla govt

And now the blame game begins. Karnataka Law Minister Suresh Kumar blames negligence of the Kerala government for the stampede.
“They took things for granted. We have the recent example of Kumbh mela where nearly one-and-a-half crore people took bath in Haridwar. We had excellent arrangement. So I think this is sure negligence on the part of Kerala government departments and taking things for granted,” said Suresh Kumar.
There were around three lakh pilgrims at Pullumedu and to take care of them there were just a few policemen and a couple of doctors. The place dosen't have proper roads or communication facilities. In fact, the forest department had warned crowd management would be tough but the state government ignored it. State Opposition Leader says government apathy is the cause of the tragedy.
“The government can see the situation only with a sense of guilt. Irresponsible attitude of the government is the cause of this tragedy. The affected families should be compensated at least with Rs 10 lakhs,” said Opposition leader, Oommen Chandy.
A similar tragedy had killed 52 people at Pampa in 1999. A judicial panel was set up then. It had recommended the development of the Pullumedu route, the place were the stampede occurred, but clearly nothing has been done.

India[+] 228 recentPeepli Live: MLAs camp at rape victim's house Shreya Dhoundial , CNN-IBN Posted on Jan 17, 2011 at 07:11am IST ShareBanda: Two days after the Dalit minor allegedly raped by a BSP MLA was released, she found herself in the middle of a political tug of war. BJP, Congress and Samajwadi Party MLAs camp outside the Banda rape victim's house to guard her, in a bid to score points against the ruling BSP. It's Banda's Peepli Live moment - a sleepy moffusil town - thrust into the limelight because of the 17-year-old Dalit girl allegedly raped by a BSP MLA. Sent to jail on fabricated theft charges and finally released after 30 days of sustained media pressure, the minor finds herself in the middlle of a never ending political circus. "I refuse to go to jail. I refuse to leave. I don't want to go anywhere, whatever be the case," she said. Adding insult to injury - the Samajwadi party has stationed two MLAs outside the girl's house to ensure she doesn't change her statement against the BSP MLA. The BSP government in turn has deputed 160 cops to keep an eye on them - and the BJP is making a guest appearance via Smriti Irani. "I'm shocked that inspite of the national media being here the victim feels threatened. I'm shocked that the police that is supposed to stand behind you is part of the system that victimizes you," she said. Caught in the middle of all this politicking - the girl and her family want to leave their hamlet and move away. But a deeply embarrassed Mayawati government isn't allowing it. A year to go for the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh no one wants to take a chance, even if it's at the cost of the victims dignity.

bhagavatam

"This Bhagavata Purana is as brillant as the sun, and it has arisen just after the
departure of Lord Krishna to His own abode, accompanied by religion, knowledge, etc.
Persons who have lost their vision due to the dense darkness of ignorance in the age of Kali shall get light from this Purana." (Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.3.43)

The timeless wisdon of India is expressed in the Vedas, ancient Sanskrit texts that touch upon all fields of human knowledge. Originally preserved through oral tradition, the Vedas were first put into writing 5,000 years ago by Srila Vyasadeva, the "literary incarnation of God." After compiling the Vedas, Vyasadeva set forth their essence in the aphorisms know as Vedanta-sutras. Srimad-Bhagavatam (Bhagavata Purana) is Vyasadeva's commentary on his own Vedanta-sutras. Referred to as "the ripened fruit of the tree of Vedic literature," Srimad-Bhagavatam is the most complete and authoritative exposition of Vedic knowledge.

Review
Story

mirapakai Rishi (Ravi Teja) is a cop working at a special intelligence cell in Delhi. Kittu Bhai (Prakash Raj) is an international mafia kingpin operating from Bangkok. Rishi goes to Hyderabad and joins a college as a lecturer. He takes the under-cover job of lecturer to trap Kittu Bhai through Shankar Anna (Kota) - his channel in Hyderabad. He falls in love with a traditional Brahmin girl Vinamra (Richa Gangopadhay). The rest of the story is all about his triangular love story with Vaishali (Deeksha Seth) and how he brings Kittu Bhai to book.
Artists Performance
mirapakai Ravi Teja made sure that his brand comedy and entertainment is intact. He is highly energetic in dances (especially the first song and the last song). Richa Gangopadhyay is fine as a traditional Brahmin girl. Deeksha Seth is okay as a haughty girl. Swati gave a special appearance. Prakash Raj’s screen-time in the movie is more like that of a guest artist though he is the main villain. Kota Srinivasa Rao is impressive. One doesn’t understand what Sunil is doing in this movie and he is cliched.
Technical departments
mirapakaiStory - screenplay - direction: Story of the movie is cliched as we have seen loads of movies of cop working under-cover in Telugu since Pokiri. One good thing the director has done is to reveal the cop part of it in the beginning of the film in-stead of showing it as a twist in the end. The director’s ability cannot be judged when one directs the movie of Ravi Teja. Ravi Teja takes over the baton with his entertainment quotient and gives story/screenplay a backseat. This movie is no exception. Direction is okay in parts.
mirapakaiOther departments: Music director Thaman came up with populist tunes in the movie. The songs are good though they are loud at times. Background music is good. Cinematography is average. Dialogues are nice at times. Editing is okay. Fights are neat.
mirapakaiAnalysis: The major story of the movie is revealed in the first 15 minutes and the culmination takes place in the last 15 minutes. The rest of two hours is dedicated to the love angle and entertainment. The screenplay that takes place during this 2-hour period is not properly done. It is a proven fact that Ravi Teja’s movies have scant respect for story and screenplay and majorly depend on the entertainment aspect. The entertainment is interesting in parts. We have to wait and see how Mirapakai is lapped up by the crowds.

Story

golkonda high scool Golkonda High School is in the verge of extinction as the trustees want to make money since it is a good real estate property. Board’s Trustee Kireeet (Subbaraju) comes up with a proposal of turning the playground into a coaching center. Principal Viswanath (Tanikella Bharani) opposes to that proposal vehemently. Kireet then asks the principal to show results if he wants to retain playground. Viswanath comes up with the proposal that playground should be retained if GHS’s cricket team manages to win AP level league tournament. Principal Viswanath summons for his former student Sampath (Sumanth) - an idealist who leads a dejected life. Sampath joins GHS as the cricket coach and he has three months to convert the disoriented GHS cricket team of 14 students into champions. The rest of the story is all about how he coaches GHS team to victory and in the process how he is gets his redemption.
Artists Performance
golkonda high school Sumanth comes up with his career best performance as coach Sampath in this movie. It is an idealistic and inspiring character. Sumanth’s diction, expressions and body language suited it really well. Sumanth is the right choice for this movie. Swati’s role is not connected with the main story line. If she looked like a playful teen in her earlier movies, Swati is looking like a woman in this movie with sarees and demure performance. Subaraju has a towering screen presence and he proves again his capability as an actor with this movie. In all his earlier movies, Shafi used to dominate the character. He played this character within the boundaries in GHS and he is highly impressive. Tanikella Bharani is excellent. Ravi Prakash is authentic. Though all the seasoned actors performed exceedingly well, it is the kids who are stars of this movie. All the kids who acted as students are extremely natural. Santosh and Sangeet (both of them are sons of late director Sobhan Babu) have acted as Gowtam and Varun. Santosh’s performance is intense. Varun is very cute. Srinivas Sai (who acted as kid Nagarjuna in Kedi) is terrific as hot-blooded youngster. Farooq who played the role of Micky is genuine and effective. Lalith who played the role of sardarji keeper is very good with his performance. I don’t know the names of other kids. But the all the students are perfectly cast. The old man who did the role of attendant is perfect.
Technical departments
golkonda high scoolStory - screenplay - direction: The basic story is taken from Hari Mohan Paruvu’s novel ‘The Men Within’. It is an interesting novel about how a coach trains a pack of disoriented students (each student has different problems in their lives) and makes them into a winning unit. Mohana Krishna Indraganti has simplified the story enough to suit the big screen. He has also used the scenic order (screenplay) as written in the book. Mohana Krishna Indraganti is a learned filmmaker who went to film school. He made sure that he has stuck to the sensibilities while directing the movie. GHS is a neat work by the director but the narration should have been pacier. The screenplay should have been more tight.
golkonda high schoolOther departments: This movie is an example of how the technical team can complement the work of the director. All technical departments have coordinated cohesively to come up with a complete product where no department dominates the other one. Cinematography by Senthil Kumar is an asset. This is his second sports movie after Sye. Dialogues by Mohan Krishna are good. There is an interesting dialogue about ‘magatanam’ towards climax of the movie. Music by Kalyani Malik is excellent. Lyrics and music in Jaagore Jaago is inspiring. S Ravinder has come up with authentic work. Shravan’s editing is crisp.
golkonda high scoolAnalysis: Ram Mohan (Art Beat Capital) who produced comedy like Ashta Chemma as his first venture made a brave decision when wanted to make an idealistic and inspiring sports-based movie. The credit for this movie should go to him. Because of the freedom given by the producer, Mohan Krishna Indraganti could able to come with a neat product. All the cast and crew complemented each other’s work. There is an underlying message in the movie to the parents and students. At the same time, the entertainment quotient is intact. GHS might not have regular commercial elements, but has enough content in the movie to make you glued to the screen. On a whole, Golkonda High School is a different yet enjoyable film. You may watch it at your leisure.

అమ్మ అనే పదము చాల తీయనైనది

Our mother is the sweetest and
Most delicate of all.
She knows more of paradise
Than angels can recall.
She's not only beautiful
But passionately young,
Playful as a kid, yet wise
As one who has lived long.
Her love is like the rush of life,
A bubbling, laughing spring
That runs through all like liquid light
And makes the mountains sing.
And makes the meadows turn to flower
And trees to choicest fruit.
She is at once the field and bower
In which our hearts take root.
She is at once the sea and shore,
Our freedom and our past.
With her we launch our daring ships
Yet keep the things that last.
